CAMTAD was founded in 1978 by the late Mrs Dorothy Parry, a lipreading teacher. The first volunteers were trained in June 1982 and the first volunteer visiting commenced in 1983.

CAMTAD's aims are two-fold:
1. To spread information about the problems of hearing impairment
2. To help people with acquired deafness

Contributions towards travel expenses are requested. Donations towards the campaign are very welcome.
